Kevin Bryan is an Indonesian software engineer and design engineer based in Melbourne and Jakarta. His work covers both the design and the front-end development of web and mobile products. He is a software engineer at Pints AI and a master's student and academic tutor at the University of Melbourne.
Bryan began his career as an iOS developer at the Apple Developer Academy in 2023 and later worked as a front-end engineer at Coding Studio, where he developed a learning platform used by more than 100,000 students. His independent projects include Karto, Open HTML to Figma and Lug N Loaded. He was the technical lead of Pokèmu, the overall winner of the CISSA Codebrew 2026 hackathon.
Early life and education
Bryan is from Indonesia. His interest in interface design began in childhood with video games and game consoles, particularly those of the PlayStation 2 era. He has cited Battle Stadium D.O.N, a crossover fighting game featuring characters from Dragon Ball, One Piece and Naruto, and Captain Tsubasa as early influences.
Bryan wrote his first programs in Scratch in elementary school and learned C++ as an undergraduate. He studied computer science at Bina Nusantara University from 2020 to 2024, graduating with a Bachelor of Informatics Engineering. In March 2025 he enrolled in the Master of Computer Science program at the University of Melbourne, specialising in human–AI interaction, with completion expected in December 2026.
Career
Apple Developer Academy (2023)

Bryan began his career in March 2023 as a junior iOS engineer intern at the Apple Developer Academy in Tangerang, Banten. During the ten-month program he worked on seven iOS and macOS apps and games built with SwiftUI, UIKit, SpriteKit and RealityKit, and promoted the MVVM architecture as a common standard across five iOS teams. He was lead game developer on Mission A1, a 3D open-world storytelling game for macOS in which an astronaut stranded on an uncharted planet searches for minerals to save Earth. In June and July 2023 he and five teammates built the first version of Lug N Loaded, a co-operative puzzle game he rebuilt in 2026.
Coding Studio (2024–2026)
In February 2024 Bryan joined Coding Studio, a company based in Bekasi, West Java, as a remote front-end engineer. He developed the company's learning management system and administrative tools, which serve more than 100,000 students. He also built Hotto, an e-commerce platform with a public storefront and an internal inventory and distribution dashboard.
In 2026 Bryan led development of Kaidou, an AI system with two components: a Socratic tutor that guides students toward answers rather than supplying them, and an administrative copilot for drafting courses. According to Bryan, the copilot reduced course drafting time by 80 percent. He left the company in September 2026.
Exhibitionist Digital (2025)
From June to September 2025 Bryan worked as a contract front-end engineer for Exhibitionist Digital in Melbourne. He built more than ten reusable React components for the Newcastle Art Gallery website, integrated with the Sanity content management system so that gallery staff could publish content without developer involvement.
Pints AI and teaching (2026–present)

In July 2026 Bryan became an academic tutor at the University of Melbourne, teaching Mobile Computing Systems Programming (COMP90018), a subject covering Android development in Kotlin. In September 2026 he joined Pints AI, an AI platform company based in Singapore, as a software engineer.

Bryan documents his projects at kevbry.in/work. Karto and Open HTML to Figma are released as open-source software.

Research
Bryan's master's research examines how different styles of AI tutoring affect long-term learning. It is supervised by Jorge Goncalves, an associate professor of human–computer interaction in the University of Melbourne's School of Computing and Information Systems, whose research covers social computing, conversational AI and trust in AI systems.
Design approach

Bryan describes his role as that of a design engineer, making design decisions and implementing them in code himself rather than handing work between separate designers and developers. He has cited the console interfaces of his childhood as the main influence on his design sensibility, and has said he hopes to raise the standard of design in Indonesian digital products.
Public speaking

In April 2026 Bryan gave a talk at MelbCSS, a Melbourne meetup for CSS developers, hosted at Atlassian's Melbourne office. The talk, "Holographic Pokémon Cards using CSS", covered recreating the holographic shine of Pokémon trading cards in CSS. Its demo is published at kevbry.in/charizard.
Personal life

Bryan has been in a relationship with Jessica Nafenda since 2024 and has described her as his support system. The couple enjoy café hopping. Together they founded Kurubu Matcha, a matcha brand that began with a total budget of US$300 and has since sold more than 1,000 tins. Nafenda leads operations and marketing, while Bryan focuses on design and digital.
Bryan has drunk matcha since 2018. He collects vintage Pokémon cards, particularly Japanese-back cards from the early sets, and has named a Bubble Mew and a Neo Genesis Lugia as his favourites. His experience of queues at card shows prompted the development of Karto.
Bryan describes himself as a "die-hard" supporter of Manchester City, having followed the club since Sergio Agüero's title-winning goal against Queens Park Rangers on 13 May 2012, scored at 93:20. He has followed the Los Angeles Clippers since the team's "Lob City" era and has named Blake Griffin and Kawhi Leonard as his favourite players. He also names Cristiano Ronaldo as his role model and Kevin De Bruyne as his favourite footballer.
Both of Bryan's teams faced sanctions in 2026. In September, an independent commission found Manchester City guilty of 114 of the 115 Premier League financial charges brought against the club, a ruling the club is appealing. The same month, the NBA fined the Clippers $30 million, removed five of their first-round draft picks and suspended owner Steve Ballmer for one year over a salary cap circumvention scheme involving Leonard's endorsement deal with Aspiration.
